The GG/PP ladder tournament from A to Z: every setting, every button, every rule.
.txt of example, already commented, to fill in) and 📥 Import (loads your file and fills the list automatically).+ (e.g. Jean Dupont + Marie Martin for a doubles team).;, comma or tab) is detected automatically; empty lines and those starting with # are ignored.
The ladder tournament (also called "GG / PP", winners/winners — losers/losers) works as follows:
Result: the more you win, the more you "climb" and the more you meet strong teams. The winner is the team at the top of the ranking at the end.
Optional fields that appear at the top of the official PDF and are saved in the backup.
Buttons Singles / Doubles / Triples : they determine the number of players to enter per team (1, 2 or 3).
The field "Number of teams" (from 4 to 64) automatically creates the entry cards on the left.
The field "Number of games" sets the number of rounds in the tournament (from 2 to 12). It is shown in the top banner ("Ladder Tournament — X Games") and determines when the winner is designated.
In the left column, each card "Team N" has one line per player: Name + Licence (optional). If a name is left blank, a default name is used.
The yellow button 🎲 LAUNCH THE RANDOM DRAW — ROUND 1 reads the entered teams and creates the first round with a random draw.
Three ways to enter a match result:
The winning team turns green with the label ✓ Winner and the ranking updates immediately. A match cannot end in a tie.
When all matches in a round have a score, the badge ✅ Round complete appears and a blue button ⚡ LAUNCH NEXT ROUND — LADDER (GG/PP) creates the next round.
This new round groups teams by number of wins : 2 wins against 2 wins, 1 against 1, 0 against 0, etc. At the last round, a banner announces the winner and the button 📄 GENERATE OFFICIAL PDF appears.
A team on a bye does not play the round but receives a awarded 13-0 win. This happens if the number of teams is odd, but also when a level (same number of wins) has an odd number of teams: to keep the strict winners/losers separation, a team from that level is then given a bye rather than moved to another level. So there can be several byes in the same round. The software prioritises a team not yet given a bye, to stay fair.
Always shown under the rounds. Columns:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| V | Wins (a bye counts as a 13-0 win) |
| D | Losses |
| BP | Bowls / points for (scored) |
| BC | Bowls / points against (conceded) |
| Diff | Difference BP − BC |
Order: first the wins, then the difference (Diff), then the points scored (BP). The top 3 receive a gold / silver / bronze badge.
The tournament is saved automatically in the browser after each score and each round. If you close the page and come back, everything reloads by itself. The button 💾 Save forces an immediate save with confirmation.
.json with the whole tournament, to keep or transfer to another PC..json exported and restores everything identically. The button 🗑️ Clear all clears the tournament and the browser backup, after confirmation. Remember to export the .json file before if you want to keep a record of it.
From round 2 onwards, the software:
No: resume is automatic on the same browser. If in doubt, export the file .json.
No. Grouping is based on the total number of wins (the "level", shown in yellow above each group of matches). A team only meets teams with the same number of wins as itself — that is the official FFPJP Swiss system.
⚠️ Be careful not to confuse: in the 3rd or 4th round, two teams on "1 win" can face each other even though one has just won its round and the other has just lost theirs. This is normal : they have the same total of wins (e.g. one did win-loss, the other loss-win). The badge "X W" on each team confirms they are at the same level. If a level has an odd number of teams, a team is given a bye given a bye (13-0) instead of changing level.
